One of the naysayers’ biggest gripes about the G1 upon it’s launch was it’s percieved monopolisation of email by gmail - in that google’s popular mail service was the only one supported natively. As the presenters at the G1 launch so eloquently noted however, the Android platform it’s open nature allows developers to program pretty much any functionality in their apps, and as they suggested - it didn’t take long for someone to create what Funambol have come up with. Check out Funambol’s press release here. The application to be launched along with the android market, enables synchronisation and sharing of contacts from desktop applications like Microsoft Outlook, as well as web based mail services such as Yahoo! and AOL - and even Gmail.
For those who are too impatient to wait for the G1 to become available, you can try out the software now on your favorite Android emulator!

Hi everyone,
I built an application called mSync which lets you back up your mobile device to an online hard drive. http://mhome.guiang.net.
We have a version made for the G1 too available on the app store.
