UK G1 Unlocked and running on 3G In Australia on the 3 Network

I’ve recieved my long-awaited G1 from the UK, I believe it was the third to become available on eBay UK and the first that I could convince the seller to ship to Australia.

The good news is that I successfully unlocked it with the service at http://www.unlock-tmobileg1.com/ and it is FULLY WORKING with 3G on the 3 network in Australia.

More to come in the morning! Read More…

Want to buy a t-mobile G1 in Australia? Don’t buy from USA!

After exhaustive research we’re able to bring you some advice that could save you a few bucks. The t-Mobile G1 that’s available in the USA and is currently being shipped, is incompatible with australian 3G networks. Buying one of the phones currently on eBay and trying to use it in Australia will only end in tears and heartbreak of unprecidented magnitude.

There’s hope on the horizon though, and it comes from those whingers up in that cold place.

The UK version of the G1 will be compatible with optus, telstra and voda’s 3G networks. (Not sure about 3 at this stage). With a zero cost option available there, it won’t be long until some of these beauties show up on eBay UK. Read More…

First ‘Unlocked’ T-mobile G1s show up on eBay

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later, and for all I know there may have been previous auctions, but today I went to check out eBay and see if any G1s were listed. Well there are loads!

This one is a white one! (many have asked the seller how he managed to pre-order a white g1.. ) and the seller has only 1 positive feedback of 100% - nonetheless the bid is currently at over US$800 (it ends in around 16 hours)

This one’s black! but the seller looks a lot more legit - with much more feedback all 100%. I bid US$600 on this and was outbid instantly so I’m sure the final price will push into the 4 figures.

Another black one from a legit looking seller, currently at ~$450, and last but not least, there’s about 40 of these ones from a seller with only 1 feedback rating… *sniff sniff* what’s that? cat food??

I’d be very careful buying a G1 on eBay - it’s the kind of product release that brings the scammers out of the woodwork.

T-Mobile G1 available FREE in the UK

Michael Martin over at Google Android News has reported that T-Mobile UK announced availability of the T-mobile G1 on a £40 per monthplan with ZERO intial cost. Yes, that’s right, the poms get free G1s! It’s a bloody outrage I tells ya. They are apparently available from October 30th and 25,000 lucky anglo-techies have pre-ordered the G1.

You poor yanks have to hand over $175 of your hard earned credit crunched dollars, while the tea-sipping nancy-boys in the UK get their G1 for nada. WELL I WON’T STAND FOR IT. (Ok I will)

Here’s T-mobile Uk’s page about the G1..

Now if only they’d make the G1 available in Australia.. I would be a happier man.

UPDATE! Here’s the official press release

Best Buy to stock T-Mobile G1 in November

A leaked image of a dark and dull looking screenshot from an internal source at Best Buy has found it’s way onto the internet, more specifically to The Boy Genius Report.

If we squint a lot, we can read an “In Stock Date” of the 26th of October, and a “Street Date” of the 16th of November, which let’s us assume that the T-mobile G1 will be sold in Best Buy stores from the 16th of november 2008.

Hands up if you are going to camp out the front? Read More…
